'Heathen' website
The new website for 'Heathen' is now online here: www.heathenfilm.com
Take a look to see the first teaser poster for the film! This site will eventually contain lots of information about the film, cast and crew, along with trailers and screening dates.
'Heathen' logs part 6
The last week has seen Amber wrap her scenes, leaving us one maybe two days of shooting with Tom. Jamie and I have been out grabbing some exteriors and transition shots when possible, and as I get further into the editing I may shoot some more of these. The last few scenes we've shot have been interesting, continuity as ever an issue as we've found ourselves jumping all around the time line of the film in order to get everything finished.
'Heathen' logs part 5
After the big week shooting with Thomas last month, we eased back into filming after a short break with a return visit to our forest location to finish what we started there the previous week. Tom and Amber had a lot of dialogue which makes up what is a very intense scene. Thankfully the elements stayed on our side and the rain held off. After this we've been making our way through what is left of the script, so far with everything going to plan. We're really back in full swing this week, shooting every single day, it's been fantastic.
'Tom Trueheart & The Land Of Dark Stories' trailer added
This trailer is now up on the 'films' page, I made it for MB Films and Ian Beck. After turning in all the final shots I was looking forward to seeing the final cut the guys have made, I think its come together nicely after what was a lot of work throughout the early part of the year. I animated, composited all the shots as well designing as the motion graphics, music by Sid Barnhoorn, direction by MB films.
'Heathen' logs part 4
For the last 7 days we've been shooting a lot. The softly softly approach was ditched for the last week as Thomas J Grube flew in from New York to take up one of the major roles in the film. It was a fantastic experience to work with Thomas again. I hadn’t seen him in over 2 years since 'Night Shift', and just like on that shoot he was a pleasure to work with. I felt that everyone raised their game somewhat whilst he was around - our small team really finding it's stride.
'Heathen' logs part 3
It can be tough trying to make a film this way. Well, it is tough! Since my last log entry we've shot another hour or so, spread over 4 evenings in the last 2 weeks. Putting it like that it doesn't seem enough for 2 weeks worth, but trying to shoot dramatic scenes with lots of dialogue, without compromising, just isn't easy to do fast.
Site updates
I've added some more buttons and pages to the site - take a look! Also, the music video I've been shooting/editing for the last few months is now finished (at last!). I just have to wait for the final mix of the song now and then I'll be able to put the video up on the films page.
Hopefully soon I'll be able to put up the trailer for 'Tom Trueheart' as well. I was asked to do all the motion graphics on this piece, a trailer/advert directed by MB Films (see the links page). So check back soon and hopefully these 2 videos will be online.
'Heathen' logs part 2
Ok so another couple of hours in the can since last time which is good. Continuity with the lead actor Tom is starting to become an issue though, I must say. Why can't it be possible to just freeze peoples hair and stubble from growing?
'Heathen' logs part 1
I'm very pleased to say that after many months of preparing, my feature film 'Heathen' has now shot over 7 hours of footage. I've been working on the project since the start of 2008, filming the first sequences way back in February. Since then we've been chipping away at it very slowly and carefully - the last few weeks have seen a high amount of activity (at last!) So far I've had the pleasure of working with cast members Tom Rudd (lead), John Hoye and Amber Coombs on the project, all of whom turning in great performances.
'NetFriend' now uploaded
'NetFriend' (5min Drama/Thriller) is now available to watch on the films page. I finished the film at the end of last year - it was a collaborative effort between myself and composer/sound designer WILX. We made the film to be entered in the DVXUser.com 'All Hallows Fest 2007'. We didn't really have any aspiration of placing highly in the competition itself, more a case of wanting to use its deadline as an incentive to get the film turned around quickly. We were delighted to discover that 'NetFriend' was award a Special Selection award from the festival, coming in joint 4th place.
