The long journey through post production....

As the year draws to a close, I'm pleased to say that the film is very nearly finished. The last few months have seen so much change with the films edit, but most importantly (and noticeably) the soundtrack can now be heard at full volume in all its glory. I showed my first rough cut to Wilx back in September and he's been plodding away at the score up until a few weeks ago. As the music was slowly coming together I realized the sound design and mixing was something too important to attempt myself. Byron Bullock, an incredibly talented sound designer/mixer joined the post production of Heathen in early November and his work has been invaluable to the project. Along with Wilx they've really lifted the scope of the story and added so many layers to the film that I never dreamed possible. They've each surprised me in different ways at various stages of the process, but it always astounds me as to how hugely one music cue can change the emotion of an entire scene or line of dialogue. With the sound design too, there have been several scenes which have more impact than I ever thought they would.

We're now at the stage of completing the final mix, I'm very excited at the prospect of finally getting the film out there as we head into 2009! It's been quite a year.
